In week 10, we were asked how we plan on promoting our Bar, without
jeopardizing the integrity of the venue by throwing out discounted
coupons and deals.
I for one, plan on hiring a social
media manager or even do the managing myself, i will have a twitter
account, a facebook page, a instigram, a pub blog, and possibly even a
youtube channel.
Inside each media website, will be
links to all the other sites, and i will also pay for the advertising of
each media website through individual companies. For example: for 5$ a
day, on facebook, i can gather about 20-40 people on my page each day, i
can do the same on twitter.
For two, I plan on
advertising in the news papers, and might even hire a sign holder, to
dance around on the corner of my lot, so People that are driving by will
be sure to see it.
Finally, I plan on having a monthly
or by-monthly themed party, where i bring in live musicians, dancers,
catered food, and lastly discounted drinks. This will be costly,
however, only doing it once a month or once every two months. It should
be affective at bringing in loyal customers who will be happy to return
on a regular business day.

week 9: The Great Mission Statements
In week 9 we were
asked to pick three mission statements in which we liked and describe why and
what we liked about each one.
"A company’s mission should not be stated
as making more sales or profits—profits are only a reward for creating value
for customers. Instead, the mission should focus on customers and the customer
experience the company seeks to create."
The first one im
picking is, Michael Sherman, I like how it leaned towards the local community,
and how it sounds as if he wants it to really give back and contribute to the
community. This bar sounds like a nice place to kick back and relax with some
friends
The second one im
picking is, Jose Mayorga. Myself, personally being a sports fan, I found myself
instantly pulled into the idea of having a stadium experience. It sounds like
it would be rather tricky to set up, however, once down would most definitely be
a cool experience.
The third and final
one that I chose, is Kattie Gomez. I really liked how she has a place and
product that can offer something for all kinds of people.

Week 8: Creative Content
In week 8 we were asked what our creative content for the
bar that we will be doing our final project on. This is what I have come up
with.
Here at Create A’ Cocktail’s, that is exactly what we plan
to do. Our mission is to provide the local people of Las Vegas, Nevada, a
unique experience at a moderate price. We view ourselves as being partners with
our customers, our employees, our community, and our environment. We
aim to become a regionally recognized brand name that provides a fun, safe,
casual, and comfortable drinking experience like no other.
Our location is on Losse and Craig,
close to Nellis Air Force Base. We plan on appealing to the military members in
the area and their families.
Along with the originality of our
drinks, our food also brings a splash of creativity to the mix, instead of a
traditional “Bar & Grill”, the grill aspect will be turned into finger food
that can be ordered and set out for the party to enjoy
Week 7 : "Bar pitch" (Final Project)
In week 7, we were asked to do a EOC, and the goal of this,
is to describe to the teacher what idea we have for our final project,
which is to put together a marketing idea and strategy for a bar.
So far the idea I have come up with, is a “make your own
drink” type of bar with the name of “Create A’ Cocktail” or "Design A' Drink". Being a local, born
and raised in Las Vegas, I don’t think I have ever seen a bar that would allow
other people to make a personalize their own drinks for either themselves or
the party they are with.
I believe this would be a popular spot just for the creative
idea of the bar, the catchy name of it, and the convenient location. So far, I
have not found a location where I could open it at, but I am looking to have it
in either the West side of summerlin, or centered right in the middle of
summerlin. I would also like to have it near one of the free ways running
through summerlin, weather it be near the 95 (which would put it in the center
of summerlin), near the 215 (which would put it near the west side of
summerlin), or have it somewhere near summerlin parkway, which ranges from the
east side of summerlin, all the way through the center and, goes up to the west
side of it.
I don’t think I will be having Gamboling in this venue. I
plan on making profit off this place by selling the “experience” instead of
making it a traditional game & drink bar.

Week 6: Me x 3
In week 6, we were asked to find three pictures of three
different things that “Define Me”. These are my three products.
This first picture is of a Traktor Control S4. I chose this
picture because it represents my passion for music, preforming, and the art of
mixing this music while preforming. It was my first piece of DJ equipment, and
I still use it from time to time to compose sets, as it is near unmatched when
it comes to navigating through a library and setting up cue points for said
set. However; I have upgraded to newer more “professional standard” equipment,
the Traktor S4 will always have a spot in my studio.
This second picture is of the undisputable, renowned, “King”
of preforming arts laptops, The MacBook Pro. I chose this because I use this
piece of equipment nearly every day if not a couple times a day. I use it for
everything between working on homework and school projects to producing industry
standard music and DJ sets. Nearly anytime you see me or any other preforming
artist, chances are, you will see this trusty electronic companion with them.
This third picture, lastly, is of software I own, called
Ableton Suite 8 Live. I chose this picture mainly because whenever I’m not
working on homework, at school, or djing, this is what you’ll find me doing. It
is software used for the creation and production of professional standard
electronic music.

week 5 - Superbowl commercial
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FadwTBcvISo
In week 5, we were asked to choose one of the 2013 super
bowl commercials, and write about its overall success and what I personally
thought about it.
“This post-halftime spot opens with two impossible-to-ignore
hooks that speak straight to the heart of every American” (http://newsfeed.time.com/2013/02/04/the-best-and-worst-super-bowl-commercials-of-2013/slide/jeep-america-will-be-whole-again/#ixzz2KADIetqB)
I chose the jeep commercial for multiple reasons, mainly
because I’m a veteran, but also because the feeling it gave me while watching
it, and those feelings are what made me decide about what commercial I should
write about. I believe jeep did a good job getting that “feeling” into other
peoples mind, however I think that as a car company they lacked at showing off
their product. “In the ad,
several Jeep models are shown carrying soldiers home after time in battle. The
four-door Jeep Wrangler
Unlimited plays a starring role” (http://www.autotrader.com/research/article/car-news/201780/jeep-whole-again.jsp?rdpage=NEWSREVIEWSCONTENTRCLP_02)
I also feel that using Operah to narrate the commercial
was a very wise decision on jeep. So by using her voice, and choosing to show
more a message on our Military, they were able to reach out to two major audiences.
So they outweighed the con of not showing enough of their product with the pro
of outsourcing their possible cliental.

Week 4 - "Theres an app for that"
For week 4, we were asked to come up with an application for phones. As I sat in class, thinking of what I could come up with, I looked over to see my keys laying on the desk with my phone and wallet next to them. Then it struck me, what if there was an app to where if you lost either one of them, you could use the other to track it down via GPS or some sort of audio tone, that with a small chip, you could insert into said wallet/keys/phone.
Once I looked into it, I found that there is indeed an app for this and it is called the cobra tag. “The first part of the system is the Cobra Tag sensor, a small electronic dongle that can be attached to a keychain, purse, backpack, or other valuable item that you'd like to keep track of. The second part is the Cobra Tag app for Android or BlackBerry devices that allows your smartphone to communicate with the Cobra Tag hardware via Bluetooth connection”
The cool thing about this product is that the small tags are bi-directional. So lets say, you lose you phone in your house (like I’m sure everyone here has done more then a dozen times, only to find it hidden in a couch or under a bed, or maybe in a pile of laundry, only after spending a good hour or two looking for it), and how would you be able to track it down since the app is on the phone? You would use; for example, your keys, which have a tag on it. Press the tag, and it would send a signal to your phone, which would activate your phones application to start playing the audio tone embedded into it.

Week 3 - Making money for good
This week’s blog is about describing another social goods company
that has the same buy one, give one model as Blake Mycoskie's TOMS shoes. There are many
companies out there who follow the same charitable purpose, and for this entry,
I have chosen to write about Lauren Bush’s label, FEED.
In today’s society, charity is kind of a big deal. For
example, every October is focused on raising awareness for breast cancer. Many companies use this time to sell products
in which proceeds go towards breast cancer research. Even the NFL, a huge
franchise, gets involved by having players wear certain gear in pink for the
month, and then auctions off those items for the cause. Companies like TOMS, appeal
to the consumers who have a charitable heart who may or may not already donate
time and or money to various causes.
This makes the consumer feel like they are doing their part in some way
to help society while getting something in return. This is a great way to
conduct business for a profit. “To be successful in business
today, a company must do more than just sell a good product. According to
a recent study,
80 percent of Americans are likely to switch brands, if comparable in price and
quality, to one that supports a social cause.” http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/05/09/shopping-for-a-better-world
Lauren
Bush’s FEED is a company that sells a wide variety of products from bags, bears,
t-shirts and accessories to help provide food and basic necessities to those in
need around the world. Not only that, FEED appeals to the consumer who is also
eco conscious. All products are developed from environmentally friendly artisan
made materials. “To
date, FEED has been able to raise enough money through the sale of products to
provide over 60 million school meals to children around the world through WFP.
FEED has also partnered with the US Fund for UNICEF, raising much-needed funds
for their Vitamin A and micronutrient supplements program and providing over
46,000 children with essential nutrients.” http://www.feedprojects.com/history
FEED was established in 2006 and will probably continue to
grow and be a successful business. “Giving goods can be done right, and when it is, buy-one-get-one
products, in-kind donations, and other materials, have the power to transform
lives.” http://www.good.is/posts/buy-one-give-one-businesses-like-toms-can-make-real-difference/
It is said that it is better to give than to receive, but with companies like
TOMS and FEED one can do both.

Week 2 BCG analysis
For
this week we were asked to give our analysis of the video game market, and from
what I read, it is clear to see how the BCG analysis applies to the gaming
industry.
Nintendo
has the opportunity to be a Star by lowering the cost of the Wii by including
games for those who enjoy gaming, but don’t have to have the latest and
greatest. And for those tech savvy gamers, who are willing to spend
substantially more, a brand new console will be rolling out for them to wait in
line for. This would not be the first time Nintendo has come out on top. “When
gaming collapsed in the early ’80s, Nintendo was the savior by reviving the
concept of the home game console and unleashing the creative genius behind
classics like Super Mario Bros. It came through again with the intuitive,
inviting Wii.” (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/07/arts/video-games/video-game-retail-sales-decline-despite-new-hits.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0)
While
IPhone and other downloadable games are giving the gaming industry major
competition as far as convenience and saving money, they still can’t compare to
interactive feeling that only consoles can provide. And there’s always a demand
for that.
There are various reasons why there has been a decline in video game sales.
Like most technologies, there is a significant price reduction after a period
of time in which average consumers are likely to take advantage by just waiting
for that price drop before making a purchase that falls under entertainment
expenses. Also, “many console and PC game sales are also being cannibalized by
digitally downloaded games and alternative entertainment sources like Apple
Inc.'s iPhone, which offers thousands of games that can cost only 99 cents or
even nothing at all.” (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124865158612682399.html)
In light of the recession, this shows that consumers want to save their money,
and can still get their fix for games without having to spend a couple of
hundred dollars. So, experts say that because of this, consumers can “expect
Sony to cut the price on its PS3 by about $100 this year, leading to price cuts
by Microsoft on some of its Xbox 360 models. The PS3 starts at about $400,
compared with the equivalent Xbox 360, which costs about $300. Though Nintendo
has said it won't cut prices on its $250 Wii this year, it is expected to do so
indirectly by bundling games with the console.” (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124865158612682399.html)
The
question mark company, Nintendo, has a solution to the issue. “The low sales
might also be evidence that we are simply at the end of the current console
cycle — which makes Nintendo’s decision to roll out the successor to the
Wii next year look like a smart move.” (http://popwatch.ew.com/2011/09/09/videogame-sales/)
