In week 5, we were asked to choose one of the 2013 super
bowl commercials, and write about its overall success and what I personally
thought about it.
“This post-halftime spot opens with two impossible-to-ignore
hooks that speak straight to the heart of every American” (http://newsfeed.time.com/2013/02/04/the-best-and-worst-super-bowl-commercials-of-2013/slide/jeep-america-will-be-whole-again/#ixzz2KADIetqB)
I chose the jeep commercial for multiple reasons, mainly
because I’m a veteran, but also because the feeling it gave me while watching
it, and those feelings are what made me decide about what commercial I should
write about. I believe jeep did a good job getting that “feeling” into other
peoples mind, however I think that as a car company they lacked at showing off
their product. “In the ad,
several Jeep models are shown carrying soldiers home after time in battle. The
four-door Jeep Wrangler
Unlimited plays a starring role” (http://www.autotrader.com/research/article/car-news/201780/jeep-whole-again.jsp?rdpage=NEWSREVIEWSCONTENTRCLP_02)
I also feel that using Operah to narrate the commercial
was a very wise decision on jeep. So by using her voice, and choosing to show
more a message on our Military, they were able to reach out to two major audiences.
So they outweighed the con of not showing enough of their product with the pro
of outsourcing their possible cliental.
